Slot Books to Improve Your Game

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

When it comes to finding help with slots, look no further. There are some great resources on the market that offer a lot of help. Sure the games are based on the RNG, random number generator, and the outcomes cannot be influenced, but there are still some things to learn. Here are some of the top books available on the subject of slots gaming and what each one has to offer.

1)      Break the One-Armed Bandits by Frank Scoblete. Scoblete is a pioneer in the field of slots and he has proven time and again with his writings how viable his instructions are. He offers a complete history of slots in this book. The great thing about his writing is that it is easy to follow and understand. For the novice slots player, this is a great resource to enjoy.

2)      Slot Machines: A Pictorial History of the First 100 Years by Marshall Fey. This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to know where slots came from. Fey is a great author because he knows the history well—his great great grandfather Charles Fey was the creator of the first slot machine way back when. It’s fun to read his words recounting his family’s business and how it developed over the years into one of the more popular gambling games in any casino in the world.

3)      Secrets of Modern Slot Playing by Larry Mark. This is a short book—just 48 pages but don’t let that fool you. Mark manages to give the reader insight into the minds of the casinos, thus increasing the players’ chances of knowing which machine to play, and those to avoid. An enjoyable read for those not so familiar with slots and those wanting to improve their game.

4)      All Slots Made Easier by Gayle Mitchell. Mitchell is a good resource for all things slots related. This is an exceptional book in that it offers a lot of advice on strategies when it comes to choosing what games to play and what to remember when choosing.

Overall all four of the above books are great resources for anyone to read. They offer some great gaming tips and tricks and will help any slots player have more fun playing.

Next there is Mason Malmuth and Lynne Loomis’ “Fundamentals of Video Poker” book. This book is just what it sounds like—a beginner’s book that offers tons of basic information for your gaming. They answer a lot of questions the novice player may have and instruct you on the basic theories you’ll need to get to the top winnings and payouts. Although they start with the basics, neither author is a novice in the industry so expect their teachings to be hefty once you get further on into the book.

“Million Dollar Video Poker” is the next helpful book to review. This one was written by Bob Dancer. The great thing about Dancer is that he’s a very practical player and it shows in his books. If you are looking for bare-bones skill tips, then this is the perfect game for you. He focuses on the structure of the game and how to play but the thing that is most notable is his easy-to-read style. He’s one author who knows how to break down the complexities of the game and give you the simplest format that still covers the material.

Next there is “Optimum Play” by Dan Paymar. Paymar is a well-known gambling analyst. His book is also easy to ready but there’s a little more meat to it. You’ll want to concentrate when you read his book and this is not a lazy Sunday afternoon read. It’s full of helpful tips and tricks when it comes to video poker and will help anyone to understand the game more. It’s just a little focus intensive and requires consistent attention to understand. This isn’t necessarily for the novice slots player, but rather most likely would fit into the avid player’s collection of resources more readily.

If you are looking for a Christmas gift for your favorite video poker player or gambler, any one of these books should suffice. They are all chalked full of resources and fun. They are written by some of the best authors and most experienced gamblers around. Test anyone of them for some great tips and tricks to playing the game.

Some Great Books on Gaming- Part 1

Many people who gamble in online or land-based casinos are looking for valuable tips and tricks to winning. They are constantly searching in libraries and the internet to find authors who can help them with their strategies, and ultimately help them win. Here is a list of some of the best resources out there on video poker and what each book has to offer.

First there is “Your Winning Strategy to Video Poker: The Alternative to Slots.”  This is a book by Raymond Clarke. Clarke was a long time loser at video slots until he began taking notes. His notes were put together to form this book and they focus on playing strategies, his experience, knowledge, mathematics and statistics. He also focuses on useful approaches to playing at various casinos. He can give you some tricks and tips along with a few secrets to play successfully.

Next there is “The Video Poker Answer Book”, by John Grochowski. This author has a wide pool of knowledge regarding video poker play. He covers the mechanics of the game, various strategies, and outlines the different types of games available. If you are looking for a basic and helpful outline of what’s out there in terms of video poker, then this is the game for you. It’s all practical knowledge here too so you should be able to use it in the actual gaming experience.

Another good resource is “Frugal Video Poker.” This book is by Jean Scott and Viktor Nacht. Both are well-known in the world of gambling publishing.  Nacht has spent about 10 years playing blackjack and working as webmaster for famous publishing houses. Today he lives in Las Vegas, plays blackjack and video poker professionally and owns several casino game sites. This is a good light read and should offer any gambler some good tips on the game and how to win.

There is also “Victory at Video Poker by Frank Scoblete. Anyone who knows about the gambling industry has probably heard of Scoblete.  He’s an American author who has written under his own name and pen names. Considered an authority in the world of casino gaming—including craps, blackjack and slots—he has created many literary resources that can help out your game. The great thing about his books is that he offers technical help and suggestions. You can take what you read and apply it to your game right away. He also includes a good history of the game for reference.

Part two coming next.
