The Rules of Gambling- Part 1

Knowing some of the most familiar gambling words, and terms can help you better understand games and casino talk. Not being familiar with the words and or terms can make your gambling experience one that you will want to avoid in the future. Gambling is a great way to relax and entertain yourself on a relatively inexpensive budget. Playing games and not knowing what some of the words mean can stop you from playing right, properly or even winning. Here are some words that may help you to have a better understanding of the lingo used in live casinos and online casinos as well.

“This game as a lot of action,” is heard from slot machine players often with the different slot machine games offered today because of the bonuses, the free spins, and mini games inside the game, however, the true meaning for action is the amount of money put into play during a gambling section. So if you are sitting down at a poker table and one of the players says to you, “Hope you got some cash buddy, look at all the action happening here,” they are referring to the amount of money being wagered. In poker for instance you have to ante up before the each hand starts. Players always use a bankroll when they gamble which means the amount of money a gambler has at their disposal during their play time. The minimum and maximum wager a gambler can place on a game is called betting limits, and sometimes players who cannot stop betting get themselves barred from live casinos by asking the casino to ban them from playing anymore. The game of poker uses a lot of words that are not used in your daily lives such as blind bet which is used as the player has not been dealt any cards but has to make a bet. Sometimes in poker a player will bluff during the game and when they do this they usually have a worthless hand, but are playing it to discourage other players in the game which encourages them to fold, letting the bluffer win that round. Once you become an avid poker player you can usually spot the players who are bluffing. If you have a good hand in poker you will want to bump, which means raise the bet.
