Canadian Gambling Laws Changing Rapidly
The world is debating online gambling and Canada is no exception. For a few months now the country has been in heavy debates over the issue and trying to square away its laws and regulations regarding the pastime. Since the recession, every country throughout the world has had problems with its deficit. The recession stretched budgets beyond what they could handle and now it is time to recover but there are few options to help. Gambling is the only million-dollar generating activity that countries are looking into for relief from their financial woes. One thing is for sure– people are going to gamble and taking advantage of the huge tax dollars available may be th eonly way for the world to truly turn things around.
Quebec is the latest province to start working on legalizing online gambling. The government has moved into gambling territory online by legalizing online lotteries to help generate funds. The lotteries include sports betting and online poker. No one can debate how popular poker has become in the market. Just look at how popular the WSOP is now. Not only does it pay out multi-millions to lucky winners at its various games, but it also has major corporate sponsors and ESPN full coverage worldwide. Canada knows full well how popular gambling is and is hoping to generate the dollars needed to work on its huge deficit. Lotto-Quebec is the company that is going to host the online gambling for the country and it is scheduled to begin paying out to the province’s legislation soon. it should take a few months to work the kinks out, but overall it seems to be a good move for generating cash. Province coffers are low and this is a sure-fire way to help them out.
There are still some opponents of gambling in the area, but they are hopeful. They are hoping that laws will change and be added to protect consumers and the general public from the negative affects of gambling in general. It may take a few months, but most likely Quebec will be one of the first Canadian provinces to use gambling wisely and to its advantage.
