Slots Gaming Still Big Business for Casinos

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

New research is showing that slots are still making waves in the gambling market. Since the recession many land-based casinos have suffered greatly. Let’s face it- if people don’t have revenue, how are they going to gamble? Most Americans put off gambling at land-based casinos in past months. The recession taught people well that they had to do some serious cutting back to make it. The unemployment rate soared in past months and that drastically cut back on what people could and could not afford. Gambling since it is completely a hobby was cut out of millions of American budgets. This was bad news for the casinos who rely on gambling revenue to sustain themselves. With the lack of revenue, they were hard-pressed to create new promotions and specials that brought in the numbers of customers needed to turn their finances around.

One of the most interesting things that came to light via research casinos were doing was just how lucrative slots gaming is. Most casino operators believed misguidedly that the high-roller tables were what brought in the biggest dollars. That is true…but not all inclusive. What the casinos found out was that they may have a surge in profit around a great poker tournament here and there, but the numbers weren’t consistent. For example, a good poker tournament held in December brought in $150,000, but the following month that revenue was down to just $50,000. On the other hand slots gaming brought in a consistent average of $122,000 over the same two months. The research showed that though slots gambling didn’t have a sudden surge in revenue, it was consistent and that made it the number one money-maker for casinos in Las Vegas. In fact, they even said that slots gambling brought in 60% of the overall revenue they saw in past years.

This was truly news to most casinos and industry insiders but made sense when investigated. People are leery of wagering $500 in a poker tournament that they have a slim shot of winning. On the other hand, people will wager a consistent $10 for a slots game. When it comes to having fun wagering on a slot machine the “$10″ wager amount just isn’t as intimidating at the buy-in. Plus with slots gambling, you get what you pay for. Most likely you are going to have a great time playing due to the quality of games.

Legalizing Gambling Still Being Debated

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

If you look at any US state, legislators are in the middle of heavy debates over the question of legalizing gambling. It is interesting to see the developments in the issue, but overall there are still staunch sides to the issue and they are holding up well against eachother. On one side you have those who are against legalization of gambling. A good portion are completely against the activity’s legalization, but another portion is looking at the issue more conditionally. They believe that gambling should not be legalized without the proper regulatory laws put into place. They aren’t completely against gambling; they are just worried that without the proper laws, gamblers won’t be protected at all. They worry that legalization of gambling will bring an increase in gambling ddiictions without the adequate programs to help people, crime with inadequate police protection to handle it and poverty with no public works programs to aid in fixing the issues. Their belief is that rules need to be put into place that protect players, casinos and the communtiies surrounding gambling organizaitons before any legalization issues are addressed. Currently legalization codes are not adequate to dictate what gambling rules should be.

On the other hand there are the legislators who believe that gambling should be legalized. Their position is that online gambling is a billion-dollar business and the states cannot turn away this kind of revenue at this time. Most states’ economies have been ravished by the recession and without some viable option to help them recover, they are going to continue to have to manage deficits. Gambling is the only billion-dollar money generating activity on the table right now and the legislators are pushing for its legalization. Some states are already earmarking gambling revenues for various public works, development and expansion efforts in years to come. They confidently believe that the money will be brought in once gambling is legalized and regulated under adequate laws. Only time will tell which side wins out, but most likely legalization will happen. State legislators are not going to want to put off the kinds of revenue that is avaliable if they make the move to legalize gambling for good.

Pop Culture Finds its Way into Gambling

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

The interesting thing about online gaming today is that pop culture is playing a big part in it. Over the years pop culture has developed into a true pastime for millions of people. Just look at the growth of Hollywood websites that report sightings of actors, actresses and musicians in various locations throughout the world. At a premiere or big concert you will see paparazzi there to chronicle the event and get great pictures of the stars. The next thing you know those stars are up there on the front pages of magazines. People in today’s culture buy these magazines and pay top-dollar to see their favorite stars. It is a star’s market these days and if you are famous, you expect to be on covers everywhere when you make an appearance—scheduled or not.

Because of the growth of pop culture many games are taking their cues. If you go to a casino these days you can find games with a wide variety of themes. If you like NASCAR and horses or shopping and jazz music, you can find a slots game that is built around it. Your interest is somewhere in a casino and it will just take some looking to find it. Casino operators know that gamers are more likely to play on games that attract them in every way—payout, wager, style and theme. They work these four elements together carefully to bring in the biggest number of gamers possible to their casino. For example, right now there is a great debate over The Hulk—of course the Hulk is that green character that Bruce Banner turns into when provoked. In the past Edward Norton took the helm of creating the character but the new franchise is looking for its next star to take his place. So what does that have to do with gambling? Well, casinos are taking bets as to who is going to fill Norton’s shoes. There are some forerunners, but no formal decision has been made. This is a testament to how much pop culture has made its way into gaming and how it affects the games that operators create.

Poker Continues to Grow in the Gambling Market

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

If you want to see a true growth trend in the market then look at poker. The game is a favorite among gamers and has been for decades now. Not only is poker a great game of luck, but it also has enough of a strategy to it that players worldwide love the game and tournament play involving the game. In particular the past ten years have been huge years of growth in the market for poker. One thing that hampered it was the recession, but once it began to die down poker became a popular game once again. If you have any doubts that the game is not here to stay, look at the rise of the WSOP. Though the tournament began as a small 6-player “event”, it now has grown to a million dollar event that is televised around the world. There are hundreds of satellite tournaments to earn your way into the tournament and that is just the beginning. If you do manage to make it to a table in the ending rounds, you most likely are going to be playing for millions of dollars.

Though in the past the game was considered to be a “high-roller” activity in a casino, that is quickly changing. The new age of poker has brought the game to any bankroll limit. You can find a range of games for high rollers, but you can also find smaller priced games that people with limited bankrolls can play. Plus even large buy-in poker tournaments have satellite tournaments where players can earn their way into the big tournament and wave the buy-in altogether. These are particularly fun because the games are normally just as exciting as the big-name event they lead up to. If you love poker, then do a search online for some of the tournaments that have the biggest payouts. The game is one of skill and if you have spent some time honing your own, you just may be able to get in on the fun and walk away with a big win. In today’s market there is not a lack of poker games to enjoy so why shouldn’t you take advantage of them?

Poker Stars Under Investigation for Alleged Bot

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

In the world of online gambling there is a consistent focus on fair gaming. Over the years there have been some breaches of this and developers have worked hard to overcome. That is one of the main arguments against legalizing online gaming. Opponents of the move have cited that it allows for a lot of illegal activities to be built into online operator’s websites. There have been cases where people have won a large sum of money only to never receive it, or only receive a small share. In addition, every game has a payout percentage. If you go into a land-based casino you can read the figure on every machine and play the ones with the biggest payout. For example, if a game says it has a payout percentage of 98.7% then that means that over the length of the game’s lifespan it is going to pay out 98.7% of the time. This figure has been a point of interest for many anti-gaming supporters. They believe that casinos easily have the ability to tamper with these numbers and the payouts people get. In the online world, they contend that it is even easier because things can be built into the code.

PokerStars.com is the latest problem website for “poker bots”. A poker bot is just that—a poker bot is an automatic account that operates within a computer as directed from a website. It can tamper with the outcomes and is illegal in the world of online gambling. However, the problem is that these bots are difficult to locate and difficult to prove exist as a result. PokerStars.com had one particularly wise player who watched these accounts and noted suspicious happenings around it. The player then spent a few months gathering further information on the website and its activities to prove that something was indeed illegally going on with the casino. Though the investigation is still under way, this is horrible news for the PokerStars.com website. It is a huge poker website in the market and this type of bad press can seriously hamper its reputation. In response the website is on an all out investigation of the matter.

Security Breach by Plan Now in Question

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Play Now is a British Columbian company that was eager to enter the market. Operators were ready to take advantage of the huge growth in online gambling and bring a capitalize on the billion-dollar business. Over the past few months, gaming has proven how lucrative and reliable it is. Though other businesses have suffered considerably since the recession, online gambling has proven its resilience. Despite people not having the money to wager at a land-based casino they do have the cash to wager online. The reasons possibly could be because online operators have the ability to create deeper discounts in the market. Consider that land-based casino shave large overheads to struggle with. They have to worry about maintenance, wages, managers, cashiers, and landscapers…not to mention huge utility costs and repairs. When their bills are covered, operators don’t have the resources left to then cut prices in half. Unlike land-based casinos, online casinos don’t have anywhere near the same amount of overhead to deal with. They have to pay programmers and developers, but that cost isn’t as much of a strain. Add to that that their market seems to be growing at exponentially and the outcome is a positive one. Despite Play Now operator’s hopes however, there are some issues to deal with.

It seems that the BC-based company is up against some criticism for their internet security protocols. The company was set to run a state lottery that would be akin to the normal lotteries of the states. It was a good idea, but then problems occurred. The company suddenly was under attack for breaches of security and internet safety for customers. The company is being tight-lipped on what actually occurred, but assuring customers that they are working hard to fix the issue. If you look at the website of the BC Lottery Corporation you can see how they are down playing the entire incident and don’t ever even explain what exactly happened. It may take some time to sort through issue but according to the company-released papers on the incident, they are going to move forward quickly with new rules and regulations that dictate how they deal with customer’s personal information.

Amaya Gaming Group Flourishes

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Amaya Technology Gaming Group is a Canadian internet gambling company. The company provides software and technology to the market and has produced a wide range of successful products over the years. In the world of gambling, there are companies that stand out and these are the only ones that are going to remain standing. The world of gaming is highly competitive. Because of this the biggest and best companies are the only ones that are going to survive the stress. The recession was particularly hard on the gaming industry because it is fueled by people’s discretionary funds. When the unemployment rate hit an all time high in most large metropolitan areas, it left consumers without the normal resources they would have had to gamble. Most cut gambling out of their budgets altogether.

During the recession and just after it, companies scrambled to remain alive. They created big discounts and special rates in an effort to spur business. Though it worked to some degree, without a true turnaround of the unemployment rates and change in the market, resolution on a complete level was hard to find. This caused many companies to suffer and some racetracks even closed down altogether. Now that the recession is considered to be over, it still is taking some proactive moves for companies to return to their old ways of operations and bring up their income levels. The problem was that they could only discount so much due to their lack of funds. Only companies that had a good cash reserve were able to withstand the changes in the market as peoople waited the recession out.

Amaya Technology Gaming Group is a company that is doing extraordinarily well. It has taken full advantage of the huge growth in online gambling since the recession. The company has created its own market by developing software technologies that are premiere and exclusive to their roster of products. Now, the company is offering stocks to investors. The company is up for public trade as of this past week and has gotten a huge amount of potential investors. It has raised $5 million as an immediate move in response to the announcement to go public.

World Cup Proves a Blessing for Bookmakers

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Fans of the World Cup proved faithful this past year. Now sports bookers are producing numbers proving that the World Cup was great for business. One of the things about the World Cup was that advertisers and marketers of the event were working hard to promote it. Not that the World Cup is without a premiere reputation for soccer fun, but marketers were working overtime to bring a new notoriety to the games. In addition to the regular promotions, the operators were also putting millions into marketers. The World Cup happens every four years and has a huge following of viewers throughout Europe and South America. The event boasts millions of soccer fans.

So far the World Cup has over four decades of a reputation to build on. If the past is any indication the games are huge. Unfortunately due to a lack of international interest, the games have suffered. Though locals follow gaming adamantly, it seemed that the world lacked the same passion for soccer gaming…that is, until now. Bookies are excited because for the first time there was a large global interest in the World Cup games. It caused millions of viewers to put bets on who was going to win, what the spread would be and what the lineup of winners would be. Bookies everywhere are excited to take on the added stress of more business. This may be a sign that the World Cup is finally gaining the notoriety that it is worthy of. Expect next year to be even bigger. The World Cup seems to be following along the lines of many other big-name tournaments and events. It starts out slowly and then snowballs into a huge event for the gambling world to enjoy.

If you are a fan of soccer or the World Cup then look at where the event is going to be in another four years. Most likely there will be a whole new surge of global interest in the games. It has taken decades, but now the World Cup organizers can truly see the fruits of their passion and labors as the event moves into one of the most highly anticipated ones in the world.

William Hill Continues to Make Waves in Industry

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

If you like internet gambling then no doubt you have played or at least visited William Hill’s online casino. This is one of the premier websites for gaming online. You can find a wide range of games here to enjoy– everything from poker and blackjack to slots and sports betting. Whatever your internet needs, you can easily find it here. In the UK William Hill is one of the biggest and most well respected companies for gaming needs. It’s been around for decades and had managed to build up a reputation of being a top notch sports betting location for UK residents.

Though it’s a great company now in the market, it wasn’t always that way. The beginning of the company was tumultuous and at one point. Partof the problems were due to the fact that the company was determined to build its own proprietary internet gambling and betting protocols. It was this aggressive and challenging move that put them in a precarious place though. Most companies start off with a ready-made software package. Their job is to merely implement it with marketing and advertising plans that bring in new customers. William Hill on the other hand didn’t go the “normal” route. This company created and developed their own interface and looked to bring it to the market.

Though the move was a questionable one, in the end it paid off. The company just released its Q2 reports and the numbers show a good amount of growth. The company has seen a good 2010 thus far, which is great news in the still depressed economy. If you look at how the market has developed, a lot of companies are still struggling due to the recent recessionary period. According to William Hill’s financial reports their profits have increased by 24% this past quarter, as compared to last year this same time. That’s great news for the company since most gambling companies are still regrouping from the recession’s push. If you are looking for good gaming, visit the William Hill online casino game room. You will find a wide range of games, premier customer service and outstanding bonuses to enjoy.
