Avatar, Bridges, and Bullock Early Oscar Favorites with Betmakers
According to betmakers in Las Vegas Casinos, Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock are the early favorites to win an Oscar in their respective categories. Each one has had a stellar year with some outstanding performances to prove it.
Jeff Bridges is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in Crazy Heart. In Crazy Heart, Jeff Bridges plays Bad Blake, a broken down country music artist with a history of failed marriages, too many nights on the road, and alcohol abuse. Bridges’ character Bad Blake reaches for salvation thanks to journalist Jean, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who discovers the real man behind the music. John Avello, the Executive Director for Race and Sports Book at the Wynn says Jeff Bridges is a 2-3 favorite to win the prized statue.
Sandra Bullock is nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Blindside. In this heartwarming movie, she plays a wealthy woman who takes in a homeless teen, who later grows up to become an NFL football star. Bullock is off of a long seriesof successful films that gained critical acclaim, but not always boxoffice gold. Her own production company put out a roster of movies that she said focused on “the heart” and “good feeling” rather than millions in revenue. She is still working with her production company looking for new projects. Ironically, Bullock was also nominated for a Razzie Award, known in the industry as an award of the “worst” performances. The movie she did with Bradley Cooper “All About Steve” is the nominated film. Bullock has said that if she wins, she may attent the Razzie Awards and then the Oscars the next day. She’s taken the nomination for a Razzie in good fun and vows to follow along the lines of Halle Berry, who won an award and surprised guests by showing up to accept it.
Avatar, James Cameron ‘s record breaking masterpiece that was 13 years in the making, is nominated for Best Picture. This epic science fiction movie, is currently leading the pack with odds resting at 1-2 for Avatar to take home the coveted Best Picture prize.
