Bingo originated several hundred years ago in Italy as a lottery type game called "Lo Giucco del Lotto D'Italia". In the late 1770's the game was introduced in France by the name "La Lotto". It wasn't until the early 1900's that Americans were learning of this game originally named "Beano".

The form we enjoy today is played by similar rules all over the world. Variations mainly include using different 'Patterns' on the Bingo Card. Traditionally, to win you must get five numbers in a row either, up and down, horizontally, diagonally or four corners. The center space is always free.

The Bingo Caller draws random numbers, announces the number to the players, and if a player has that number he or she marks the spot on the Bingo Card. A simple enough game, but filled with anticipation and excitement. You'd be hard pressed to find a game that draws as big a crowd of very loyal players. Some to the extent of fanaticism. But in a good way.

Bingo uses a set of numbers, between 1 and 75. The card has five rows and five columns that make up of 25 small squares, each with a number on them. Across the top of the card the word Bingo is spelled out, beneath each letter of the word Bingo are numbers that correspond to the letter above.

B - numbers 1 - 15
I - numbers 16 - 30
N - numbers 31 - 45 with the free space in the middle
G - numbers 46 - 59
0 - numbers 60 - 75

Many times a player will play with several cards at a time to increase his or her chances of winning. If you're a novice, start with one card until you are confident that you can move up to having multiple cards as it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with the speed of the numbers being called.

When you've selected your card and the Bingo Caller is set, the game begins. As the numbers are called out the tension builds. Each player is concentrating on the cards and the caller, making sure not to miss a number. The speed at which the game moves makes it nearly impossible to catch up should you miss a number and have to spend valuable time going back to make sure you've got all the spots marked.

Once the game is in swing, the players are all anxiously awaiting the next number, the more numbers that have been called, the more the tension builds because the next number could give someone a bingo and as everyone gets closer to Bingo you can feel the excitement in the air. When a Bingo is made, the player announces 'Bingo' to the caller and the hall, loud enough for everyone to hear. Play stops while the 'Runner' checks the players Bingo Card. If all the numbers match those that have been called, the game is one and the players get ready for the next game. This is a very enjoyable game and we higly recommend it to our visitors.
